چکیده

The objective of this study was to illustrate how different methods of obtaining the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of an object may produce different results. RCS diagrams of a metallic airplane model (length, 0.64 m) were obtained in an anechoic chamber, with a LabVolt RCS system, and simulated with a simulation software. The measurements and simulations were carried out at the radar frequency of 9.4 GHz. The resulting RCS diagrams show that although there was a good correspondence between the main features in the RCS diagrams, some differences can still be observed, highlighting the need for different techniques to fully represent the RCS of an object.

Monopole Antenna Radar Cross Section Reduction with Plasma Helix

In this paper, a new method for radar cross section reduction of a monopole antenna is proposed. In this method, a plasma helix like fluorescent bulbs is placed around the antenna element. The selected plasma parameter for this medium acts as an absorber without disturbing the antenna performance. The simulations show that radar cross section of simulated antenna is reduced in a wide frequency ...

Sensor and Simulation Notes Note 506 January 2006 A Frequency Selective Surface Used as a Broadband Filter to Pass Low-Frequency UWB while Reflecting X–Band Radar

Airborne ultra wideband (UWB) impulse-radiating antennas (IRAs) present an especially large radar cross section to X–band radar. To mitigate this problem, we have numerically and experimentally investigated the use of a frequency selective surface (FSS) as a broadband filter to reflect X–band radar while transmitting lower-frequency UWB signals without loss or dispersion. We present here result...

Sea Surfaces Scattering by Multi-Order Small-Slope Approximation: a Monte-Carlo and Analytical Comparison

L-band electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional random rough sea surfaces are calculated by first- and second-order Small-Slope Approximation (SSA1, 2) methods. Both analytical and numerical computations are utilized to calculate incoherent normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) in mono- and bi-static cases. For evaluating inverse Fourier transform, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) i...

Application of quantum technology in radars

In this paper, the use of quantum technology in the radar system and the advantages of these radars as compared to classical radars have been analyzed. In the beginning, briefly, we present the basic structure of the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and then the role of photon in this theory and photon interactions is presented.  In the next step, the most general form of the quantum radar cr...

A 100 GHz Polarimetric Compact Radar Range for Scale-Model Radar Cross Section Measurements

A fully polarimetric compact radar range operating at a center frequency of 100 GHz has been developed for obtaining radar cross section, inverse synthetic aperture radar imagery and high range resolution profiles on targets and structures of interest. The 100 GHz radar range provides scale-model RCS measurements for a variety of convenient scale factors including W-Band (1:1 scale), C-band (1:...
